The highly anticipated Kingmakers won’t be hitting early access this week after all. The time-bending action game, where you drive modern trucks and unleash assault rifles on medieval knights, has officially been delayed, and there’s no new release date in sight.

Developer Redemption Road Games confirmed the news in a long post on X, saying the team needs “a bit more time” to polish things up instead of rushing the game out. The studio made it clear they don’t want to cut features just to meet a date, calling Kingmakers “an incredibly ambitious, uncompromising game.”
A new half-hour gameplay deep dive is coming soon to make up for the delay, offering a closer look at what’s been cooking behind the scenes.

The team says Kingmakers pushes Unreal Engine 4 to its limits, featuring massive battles with tens of thousands of AI soldiers, destructible castles, and full four-player co-op, all running at a true 60fps. “When you walk away from a battle, it continues to play out. Nothing is fake,” the developers wrote.
That scale and scope are a big part of why the delay makes sense. Game blew up at reveal, racking up over a million Steam wishlists thanks to its viral mix of guns, trucks, and knights. But hype fades fast, and the studio clearly wants the game to live up to its promise.

No new release window yet, but with the upcoming gameplay showcase, we’ll soon find out if Kingmakers is truly as wild and deep as it first appeared.
