The dreamlike emptiness of POOLS is about to swallow PlayStation players whole. Developer Tensori has confirmed that the surreal exploration hit will launch on PS5 and PS VR2 on November 25, 2025, bringing its award-winning liminal atmosphere to console for the first time.

For those curious, a free demo is already live on the PlayStation Store. Right now, it’s a flatscreen experience, but a PS VR2 update to the demo is on the way, letting you step into those endless pools more literally than ever.

A strange phenomenon

POOLS became an unexpected indie success when it was first released on PC, sweeping up the “Best Creative Achievement of the Year” award at the Finnish Game Awards and hitting a rare 95% “Overwhelmingly Positive” Steam rating. What started as a passion project by a four-person Finnish team has grown into a fully sustainable studio.

The game drops players into vast, deserted public swimming complexes and submerged corridors, blending soothing quiet with the uneasy sense that something unseen may be watching. It’s liminal horror-meets-therapy, the kind of space where you’re never quite sure if you’re alone or dreaming.

What’s included in POOLS’ PlayStation release?

The PlayStation release of POOLS won’t just be a straight port. It bundles the original game, the Chapter 0 expansion, and a full PS VR2 mode at no extra cost. Whether you’re exploring on a TV or inside a headset, the promise is the same: haunting architecture, chilling stillness, and the creeping suspicion that there’s more lurking in the deep.

POOLS launches 25th November 2025 on PlayStation 5 and PS VR2. Until then, you can download the demo from the PlayStation Store and wishlist the full game.
