Bungie has revealed the first gameplay for Destiny 2’s upcoming expansion, Renegades, during a live stream showcase. The expansion wears its Star Wars inspiration on its sleeve, featuring lightsaber-like weapons, blaster sounds, massive walkers, and even ships.
Destiny 2 Renegades trailer
Destiny 2 Renegades is launching on December 2, taking players into “The Lawless Frontier,” a dangerous setting built around contracts that push Guardians into smuggling, bounty hunting, and sabotage. These missions span three planets and six maps, and they can be tackled either solo or with a fireteam.
Bungie is blending its signature Destiny worldbuilding with a cinematic sci-fi flair, giving Destiny 2 Renegades a distinct crossover feel.

The event also saw the release of Ash & Iron, the newest seasonal update for Year of Prophecy. This update returns players to the Plaguelands, a location not seen since the original Destiny. It introduces a three-player activity, updates the Edge of Fate rewards pass, and sets the stage for the next raid, The Desert Perpetual, arriving September 27.
Beyond the gameplay reveals, Bungie confirmed a major leadership change. Pete Parsons, who has been studio head since 2015, has stepped down and entered retirement after more than two decades at the company.

His departure marks the end of an era as Bungie prepares to launch one of its boldest expansions yet.
