Hero Games, the Chinese developer known for backing Black Myth: Wukong, has announced its own ambitious project – CrisisX. It’s a post-apocalyptic open world survival game in development for PC and mobile, with a planned launch in Q2 2026, but you can try it out at Gamescom 2025, Hall 9.1, Booth B059.

The headline feature is size. CrisisX offers a 1,200km² world and supports up to 5,000 players on a single server. Across twelve unique terrains from snowy mountain peaks to abandoned Western towns and secret laboratories, you have to scavenge, craft, and fight to stay alive.

Survival won’t be easy as the landscape is overrun with Infected, including massive Titan mutants and swarming hordes. To deal with them, the game’s combat system packs a wide arsenal: machetes, pistols, sniper rifles, crossbows, RPGs, grenades, and even armoured vehicles like M2 Bradleys and WWII Shermans.
This game is not just about fighting; you need to take care of yourself, too. Teaming up offers better chances against enemies, but also sparks turf wars as groups compete for oil wells and other strategic resources. You can also build homes, claim land, set up farms, raise livestock, and fortify bases. But threats won’t just come from NPCs, as your rival survivors can raid your base any time.
