THQ Nordic has announced Fatekeeper, a fantasy first-person action RPG, during its 2025 Digital Showcase. The game is being developed by Paraglacial, a small studio tucked away in the German Alps, home to about ten former SpellForce III devs from Grimlore Games.

And yes, it looks like the Dark Messiah of Might and Magic spiritual successor we’ve all been waiting for.

Sword, sorcery, and deep progression

Fatekeeper throws you into a handcrafted world of ruins, relics, and dangerous foes. It’s not an open world, but the maps are designed for exploration with multiple paths to approach challenges.

Combat blends reactive melee and precision spellcasting. Enemies have distinct patterns, so success will depend on skill and preparation, not just stats.

Progression will be detailed, with flexible build options across melee, magic, and hybrid playstyles. The devs haven’t shown the skill trees yet, but they promise depth.

It won’t be as brutal as a Souls game, but the devs are aiming for a decent challenge. If you’re the kind of player who craves games that reward precision and thoughtful builds, this should be right up your alley.

Frankly, it’s about time someone stepped up and filled the Dark Messiah void. Fatekeeper might just be it.

Fatekeeper will launch in Early Access on Steam this winter. Keep an eye on this one, it could surprise us all.
