The long-awaited Gothic Remake won’t make its 2025 release after all. THQ Nordic and Alkimia Interactive have confirmed that the game is now set to launch in early 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox.
But here’s some good news: console players can finally try out the demo. A playable demo is now available on PS5 and Xbox. Until now, only PC players have had access to it. Console fans have been waiting months to get their hands on it, and that wait is finally over.
Gothic Remake Xardas trailer
A seven-year journey from teaser to release
Alongside the delay announcement, a fresh gameplay trailer was shown off during today’s showcase. It gives us a new look at how far the remake has come since it was first teased way back in 2019. That teaser demo was a surprise, meant to see if fans even wanted a remake. In 2020, THQ Nordic confirmed it was happening.
By the time Gothic Remake hits shelves, it’ll have been nearly seven years in the making. It’ll also mark almost two decades since the last time we saw a brand new Gothic game.

There’s no official word on a new entry in the series yet, but if this remake blows up, there’s hope.
That’s not all, THQ Nordic also revealed that the original Gothic Classic Trilogy is coming to consoles. Gothic 1, 2, and 3 will launch on PlayStation and Xbox sometime in 2026, giving fans the full nostalgic package.

We’ll find out early next year if the remake lives up to the wait and whether it opens the door for a full Gothic revival.
