Hela, the enchanting adventure inspired by Scandinavian folklore, is officially heading to Nintendo Switch 2 in 2026, and it’s already feeling like a perfect match.
Unveiled in an exclusive trailer during the latest Nintendo Direct, the announcement confirms that Hela will also release on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC, but it’s the Nintendo Switch 2 reveal that’s turned heads. Developed by Windup Games, the team behind the Unravel series, and published by Knights Peak, Hela is shaping up to be one of the most heartfelt indie adventures on the horizon.
A witch, her familiars, and the north
Set in a lush open world inspired by the serene beauty of northern Scandinavia, Hela follows a kind-hearted Witch who has spent her life helping others, until she falls ill and needs help herself. Players will guide her magical familiars, a team of agile mice with special abilities, on a quest to restore her strength and balance the world around them.
Expect a calming blend of exploration, foraging, potion brewing, puzzles, and gentle action, all brought to life with a visual style that already feels at home on a Nintendo platform.

A natural fit for Switch 2
The devs know their audience. “We truly believe Hela will be a perfect fit within the Nintendo Switch 2 lineup — a title that speaks directly to the tastes and expectations of its audience,” said Alexander Benitez, Head of Studio at Windup Games.
Eugenio Vitale, VP of Publishing at Knights Peak, echoed that sentiment, saying Hela offers “comfort and meaning,” two qualities that resonate with Nintendo’s player base — whether you’re exploring the Witch’s world from your sofa or on the go.

Hela launches in 2026 on Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series S|X, PS5, and PC. Follow FULLSYNC gaming news for updates on this magical indie gem as we get closer to launch.
