AYANEO is back with its most powerful handheld yet. The NEXT 2 uses AMD’s top-end Ryzen AI Max+ 395 chip, also known as Strix Halo. This is a serious upgrade, aimed at gamers who want raw power over portability.

In a recent livestream, Arthur Zhang, the company’s founder, showed off the prototype. It features a custom PCB with a dual-fan cooling setup. It’s huge. This thing looks more like a mini gaming laptop than a handheld.
The chip inside is a beast. 16 Zen 5 cores, 40 RDNA 3.5 CUs, and enough GPU strength to crush any other handheld. Most brands avoid it because of size, heat, and cost. Not AYANEO. They’re going all in.

NEXT 2 goes all out with size, cooling, and specs
The board has LPDDR5X RAM, M.2 SSD slots, and loads of ports. It’s clear the design is performance-first. The large cooler takes up a lot of space, but that’s the point. AYANEO wants zero compromise.
It’s also set to be one of the largest handhelds yet. The screen could be around 10 inches. That’s not official, but the size suggests it. This isn’t for light travel. It’s for people who want desktop-level gaming on the go.
The NEXT 2 was made after work on the AI395 Mini PC. Lessons learned there helped with the thermal issues. Now, they’ve built a handheld around what’s a high-end laptop chip.

The design shown isn’t final. Expect some changes before launch. Still, the direction is clear, big, bold, and built for serious gaming.
Release is planned for later this year. If you care more about FPS than size, this might be your next upgrade.
