Electronic Arts and Hazelight Studios, the teams behind hits like A Way Out, have teamed up again to announce a new cooperative adventure game called Split Fiction. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC through Steam. Mark your calendars—it’s set to launch on 6 March 2025.
A unique adventure
Split Fiction promises an exciting mix of sci-fi and fantasy gameplay, where two writers, Mio and Zoe, are pulled into their own stories. The pair must navigate their way through vastly different worlds, facing unique challenges along the way. From escaping a supernova to battling a mischievous monkey in a dance-off, the game offers a variety of imaginative experiences.
The gameplay also includes fun elements like hoverboard tricks, gravity bikes, and even riding a sandshark. According to Josef Fares, the founder of Hazelight, this game is their “most epic co-op adventure yet.” He explained, “Because Mio and Zoe jump back and forth between sci-fi and fantasy worlds, we’ve been able to do some really wild things with gameplay and storytelling.”
Focus on co-op fun
Split Fiction continues Hazelight’s tradition of creating great co-op games. Their previous title, It Takes Two, sold over 20 million copies and won Game of the Year in 2021. Like its predecessor, Split Fiction includes the popular Friend’s Pass feature, which lets players invite a friend to join for free. This time, the feature also supports cross-play, allowing players on different platforms to team up.
Jeff Gamon, general manager at Electronic Arts Partners, praised the collaboration, saying, “Friendships and great memories are made through playing amazing co-op games together—and no one does it better than Hazelight.”
Launch details
Fans won’t have to wait long for more updates, as additional details about Split Fiction are expected on 13 December. With its creative worlds, exciting gameplay, and focus on teamwork, Split Fiction is shaping up to be an adventure worth watching.
