Physics-based side-scrolling platformer Bionic Bay is heading to PlayStation 5 and PC (via Steam and Epic Games Store) on 13 March 2025. The game’s publisher, Kepler Interactive, and developers, Mureena and Psychoflow Studio, shared the exciting news recently.
A new twist on platforming
Bionic Bay promises a fresh take on the platforming genre with its creative physics-based gameplay. The game introduces a “swap” mechanic, letting players interact with their surroundings in unusual ways. From shifting gravity to swapping places with objects or enemies, this feature adds layers of strategy and fun.
The realistic physics system brings life to every action, with dynamic objects, particles, and even liquids reacting naturally to player movements.
Explore a mysterious world
The game’s world is an ancient, biomechanical realm packed with imaginative devices, strange technology, and unique creatures. Each biome is brought to life through gritty, pixel art graphics and suspenseful soundtracks. The vast sci-fi landscapes also hide secrets waiting to be uncovered.
Online mode for competitive fun
In Bionic Bay, players can test their skills in an online mode featuring speedrunning challenges. Compete against other players’ ghost runs and climb the leaderboards. You can even customise your in-game character to stand out. The online mode will also feature regular events, keeping the experience fresh.
Meet the Bionic Bay creators
Bionic Bay is the result of a collaboration between two independent developers:
- Mureena: A Finnish studio led by Juhana Myllys, who handled the game’s art and design. Myllys has previously worked on indie favourites Badland and Badland 2.
- Psychoflow Studio: A Taiwanese team formed by two programmers managing the technical side of the game.
