Pine Studio has revealed Escape Simulator 2, the follow-up to its popular escape room game. The sequel will launch on PC through Steam, though a release date hasn’t been shared yet.
A fresh start with new ideas
In a press release, Boris Barbir, co-founder of Pine Studio, explained the vision behind the sequel. “A sequel gives us the opportunity to start fresh and push the boundaries of the escape room genre. For Escape Simulator 2, we were inspired to explore darker themes and experiment with new gameplay and puzzle mechanics,” he said.
The game introduces major technical improvements, such as:
- A new rendering engine.
- Better physics and animations.
- Rewritten netcode for smoother multiplayer experiences.
Although the game explores a darker tone, Barbir clarified, “It’s not a horror game—there are no jump scares or gore.” He also assured fans that the original Escape Simulator will continue to receive updates, even after the sequel launches.
