8BitDo has released its first controller designed specifically for Android smartphones, now available to order on Amazon. Customers who place their orders now may receive the mobile controller before the end of the year.
A new gaming option for Android users
Back in October, 8BitDo announced the Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller, a device made for gaming on smartphones. After being on pre-order for a few months, it is finally available for purchase. However, this controller is made only for Android devices and does not work with iPhones.
Features of the mobile controller
8BitDo’s mobile controller is compatible with Android smartphones measuring between 100mm and 170mm in length. Instead of connecting to the phone through a physical port, it uses Bluetooth.
Some key features of the controller include:
- Hall Effect joysticks and triggers: These provide smooth and accurate movement.
- Customisation: Users can adjust joystick precision and remap buttons using the 8BitDo Ultimate Software.
- Additional controls: Two back paddle buttons and a clicky D-pad for a better gaming experience.
- Battery life: It comes with a rechargeable 350mAh battery.
The controller is available in black and white colours and costs $49.99.
Delivery details
Amazon has listed the controller with an estimated delivery date between December 20, 2024, and January 3, 2025.
No iPhone support yet
It is unclear why the controller does not support iPhones since it uses Bluetooth, which works with most devices. Perhaps a future version will include iPhone support or a separate model may be launched.
For now, Android users can enjoy this controller to make their mobile gaming experience more enjoyable.
