Call of Duty Black Ops 6 has been out less than a month, and now we’re seeing the first season launching. New Battle Pass, new modes, new tweaks.

Sev is back with a new deal to take down the Pantheon, and that means plenty of action for players across Multiplayer and Zombies. Here’s a breakdown of the key changes and additions coming in the update.

Black Ops 6 - Season 1

Black Ops 6: Season One

Multiplayer is obviously a big part of Call of Duty. Hell, it’s a big part of my playing right now (gotta hit prestige at least once!). Black Ops 6 is a shining example of Call of Duty multiplayer, too. It’s innovated a bit, kept its core and it’s great.

We’ll get a review up at some point, but for now, here are the multiplayer changes that have just come out.

  • New Maps: Explore three fresh battlegrounds:
    • Hideout (6v6): A mid-sized map with a training site, obstacle course, and vault.
    • Heirloom (6v6, 2v2): Infiltrate a private art showing in this close-quarters map.
    • Extraction (6v6): Fight through the chaos after a Crimson One ambush.
  • New Modes:
    • Ransack: Grab gold bars and stash them in your team’s base in this 6v6 mode.
    • Prop Hunt: The classic hide-and-seek mode returns!
  • New Weapons:
    • Krig C – Assault Rifle (Battle Pass): A versatile AR for various ranges.
    • Saug – SMG (Battle Pass): A high fire-rate SMG perfect for close encounters.
    • Sirin 9mm – Special Weapon (Special Event Reward): A foldable full-auto weapon.
    • Power Drill – Melee Weapon (Event Reward): Get up close and personal with this rapid-attack melee weapon.
  • New Attachments:
    • 12 Gauge Dragon’s Breath (Battle Pass): Incendiary rounds for your shotgun.
    • Buffer Weight Stock (Event Reward): Smoother action for the XM4, XMG, and DM-10.
    • XM4 and Kompakt 92 Burst Fire Conversions (Event Reward): Switch to burst fire for improved accuracy.
  • New Perk:
    • Shadow – Strategist: Become undetectable to enemy traps and mines.
  • New Scorestreak:
    • Hand Cannon: Unleash a powerful handgun for a limited time.
  • New Operators:
    • Goliath (BlackCell, Launch): A fiery combat master.
    • Sevati “Sev” Dumas (Battle Pass, Launch): Ready to take down the Luttazzi family.
    • The Replacer (Bundle, In-Season): The master of disguise joins the fight.
    • CDL Home and Away Operators: Support your favourite Call of Duty League team.
Black Ops 6 - Zombies

Black Ops 6 Zombies

I’m not much of a Zombies player. But I quite fancy getting stuck in and learning about it properly for the first time. I love a horde mode and the gunplay of Black Ops 6, so there’s a real opportunity for me to fall down this particular rabbit hole.

Changes as of season one are as follows.

Zombies Outbreak:

  • New Directed Mode: Experience the Zombies story with on-screen objectives in Liberty Falls and Terminus.
  • Weapon Tuning: Assault Rifles receive a damage buff, and the HE-1 Launcher gets a significant upgrade.
  • Perk and Field Upgrade Adjustments: Improvements and bug fixes for various perks and field upgrades.
  • Enemy and Activity Updates: Addressing issues with enemies, exfil, and S.A.M. Trials.
  • XP and Challenge Fixes: Correcting XP earn rates and resolving various challenge tracking issues.

Global enhancements

  • Ricochet Anti-Cheat: Enhanced AFK detection, ping thresholds, and replay investigation to combat cheating.
  • Armoury: Coming in Season 1 Reloaded for Black Ops 6 and available at launch for Warzone.
  • PlayStation 5 Pro Updates: Improved image quality and performance, including a new variable refresh rate mode.
Black Ops 6 - Multiplayer

Bug fixes and stability improvements

  • Numerous bug fixes and stability improvements across Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies.

Black Ops 6 had a solid release, and whilst season one had a little snafu with XP tokens (now resolved thanks to community pressure!), it’s looking like we’re in a good place.

Have you played much of it? It’s great so far and whilst I’m not too fussed about the battle pass, I’m loving being able to drop into a few games of an evening and gradually work towards my prestige.

Meet me at Nuketown, I’ll be awkwardly trying to hide whilst I send out my RC car. If you haven’t got it yet, you can pick it up for less than retail at CDKeys.
