SteelSeries, the worldwide leader in gaming and esports peripherals, today launches SteelSeries Moments, an all-new free software service that makes sharing gaming video clips easier and faster than ever before.

Prior to the launch of Moments, gamers had very few options for easily capturing and sharing in-game highlights with friends. Up to now, they either needed technical knowledge for video recording, or had to use time-consuming and expensive video editors, or were forced to upload clips to third-party platforms instead of directly to social platforms and communities. Moments changes all of that by being purpose-built with a vision to help gamers share their glorious moments, quickly and easily to their platform of choice.

For twenty years, SteelSeries has pushed the boundaries of innovation in gaming hardware and created several gaming and esports “firsts.” With Moments, SteelSeries brings their unparalleled design and commitment to quality products for gaming to software. Now every player can share their greatest accomplishments and epic fails with anyone, anytime, anywhere.

Free to download and integrated within SteelSeries GG, the brand’s newly released software platform, Moments operates in the background and won’t make gamers choose between gameplay performance or game capture quality. Additionally, gamers are not required to use a SteelSeries keyboard or mouse in order to utilize Moments.

How to use Moments

  • Clip – Moments utilizes a custom hotkey to easily capture gameplay highlights as they happen. It offers both game and screen capture options, as well as the ability to capture clips while streaming. Moments works with all of the top video games, all three of the major GPU manufacturers, and automatically records gameplay with no lag.
  • Edit – Once a game is over, the player can easily review and sort through all of their recorded clips in the Moments Gallery. An in-app advanced video editor allows for non-destructive editing for start and end slates, as well as the ability to add video effects such as text overlays and GIFs from Giphy. Additionally, gamers can always revert to the original clip that was created.
  • Share – To make sharing easy, Moments enables gamers to upload their clips directly to YouTube and Gfycat. Further options include easy drag and drop sharing on other channels or in Direct Messages (DMs), including, Discord, Reddit, Twitter, and Facebook, with more channels coming soon.

In addition to manual clipping, SteelSeries’ new software service features advanced auto clipping with GameSense for some of the world’s most popular games, such as League of Legends, Counter Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2. Additional games, including Valorant and Fortnite are expected to be available for auto clipping soon. During each gameplay session, the software will automatically save highlights based on in-game events and create event markers on the gamer’s video timeline for easy post-game editing and sharing.

As the worldwide leader in gaming and esports peripherals, the SteelSeries software ecosystem is a natural extension of our hardware and ultimately enhances the ability to help every gamer push the boundaries of awesome and feel like a star. Our goal is to continually challenge the status quo, to innovate and design best-in-class, award-winning hardware and software, and to enable glory for gamers. The launch of SteelSeries Moments not only pushes boundaries but is helping to shape the future of social gaming.
