Is this absolutely necessary?

It may seem totally unnecessary to have a headset specifically for a chat. Most people already have an all-round headset for music, telephone calls, audiobooks etc.

Nevertheless, Sandberg is now putting two headsets, which are optimised for speech onto the market. The earpads provide accurate speech reproduction and the microphone is positioned on an arm directly in front of the mouth. After all, the best recording of speech is provided when the microphone is not in the ear, on the cheek or by the neck, as is the case with many other headsets.

Anders Partida Petersen, Brand Director at Sandberg A/S, explains: “It is almost impossible to design a headset, which can do everything. This means that a lot of compromises have to be made. I’m probably not the only one who has experienced that it can be difficult with an all-round headset, particularly during conversations. The person at the other end may ask you to repeat what you said once too often. A far better outcome is provided by headsets dedicated to speech – which we have decided to call Chat Headsets.”

The new headsets are now on their way to the market. The website www.sandberg.world provides the locations of local dealers.
