The pandemic led Sandberg to speed up product development

At the end of 2019, before anyone of us could know that we were heading directly into an extraordinary period in world history, Danish IT and gadget supplier Sandberg A/S was developing a new series of webcams, which were planned to be released in the middle of 2020.

But the world was changed in one fell swoop. All of a sudden, everyone had to work from home, and the demand for webcams increased dramatically. This caused Sandberg to change their plans from one day to the next.

We realised immediately that by putting everything into our webcam project, we could help a lot of people to see the faces of their colleagues on a daily basis, even though everyone would now be working from home. We, therefore, pushed everything to one side and put all our efforts into the webcam series. We already had a semi-finished project on the drawing board after all, so we owed it to the market to get it finished in a hurry for this new situation.

Martin Hollerup, Managing Director

The first batch of webcams was ready to leave the main warehouse in Ballerup by mid-April – 3 months earlier than originally planned. The entire series of 5 webcams was completed one month later. Production is now operating at full capacity for the benefit of many thousands of isolated people in a number of countries. They can now receive something more than just a voice in their ear to keep in touch with colleagues at work or family members who live behind closed borders.

The entire series of webcams can be seen below. They have all hit the market, but delivery times may still be relevant for some models.
