Square Enix is bringing big energy to Tokyo Game Show with two fresh trailers for its upcoming HD-2D titles. Octopath Traveler 0 and The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales both showed off new footage, giving RPG fans plenty to talk about before the event kicks off.
Octopath Traveler 0 is set on Orsterra and promises a story about beginnings. Unlike its predecessors, it’s shaking up the formula with new features. You’ll be able to customise your main character, experiment with town building, and take eight party members into combat instead of four. The turn-based system looks sharper than ever, and these changes hint at deeper strategies for players to master.

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales takes a different route. The trailer highlights action-driven gameplay that feels like a modern twist on classic top-down adventures. It’s clear the game draws inspiration from old-school Zelda, but the HD-2D visuals make it stand apart. With a demo already available on Nintendo Switch 2, players can try it out before its 2026 release.
