The Sims 4 Carnaval Streetwear kit – Our favourite items

Anyone who knows the Sims 4 knows how much content it has available for the game. And one of the latest additions to be released may just be the most colourful one yet, the Carnaval Streetwear Kit.

Channelling the influential style of iconic Brazilian superstar entertainer-activist Pabllo Vittar, EA Games and Maxis have released a collection of Create-A-Sims outfits and accessories inspired by the energy, self-expression, freedom and vibrancy of one of the world’s biggest celebrations, Brazil’s Carnaval, with the new Carnaval Streetwear Kit for The Sims 4, designed in partnership with Pabllo.

And as an avid fan of The Sims, I was fortunate enough to get my hands on this kit, plus another recent expansion which I’ll be writing about soon. So let’s check out some of my favourite parts from this new content.

The Carnaval Streetwear Kit

Who doesn’t love losing hours of their lives on the sims, whether you’re the pure player working their way up, the sneaky sneak playing with cheats on or the sadistic player who likes to ensure there is no way out of the pool?!

One thing is for sure, creating your character can take hours, ensuring their outfits are expressive of your own style or the complete opposite of your comfort zone, whichever you can agree avid sims fans love getting new Create-A-Sim content. Now when the Carnaval Streetwear Kit came to our game I could not wait to have a good dig around!

What’s good hun?

According to the official Sims 4 website, you will be able to dress your Sim in outfits with cutouts, multicoloured fruit patterns with graphic contrasts, sequined tops as well as bold makeup and colourful accessories. Each piece is inspired by Pabllo’s larger-than-life personality, the costumes of Brazil’s vibrant Carnaval and the street parties, known as bloquinhos, that take place.

The styles available definitely express more freedom and expression, supplying your Sims with the ability to express themselves and really embrace their individual sense of fun!

However, we can’t help but feel there could’ve been more added with the Carnaval Streetwear Kit. The new makeup available, for example, has only two additional styles of eyeshadow available which quite frankly is a bit of a letdown. Especially when you consider how much makeup drag queens like Pabllo beat their faces with. I mean, EA may not have won a year’s supply of Anastacia Beverly Hills makeup on RuPaul’s Drag Race, but surely even they can offer up more than two eyeshadows?

Another thing we would’ve expected as well is big hair and headdresses. I mean if you think of Carnaval, you think of the big colourful feathers on people’s heads. But they are nowhere to be seen. It actually seems like a really tame Carnaval with what’s on offer. Maybe it was inspired by one that took place during lockdown when everyone was isolated inside?

My favourite Carnaval Streetwear outfits

Despite a lack of content personally, there were still a couple of outfits I enjoyed. That’s because fortunately, there are more clothing and accessories available than there is makeup, giving gamers more to play with so their Sims can express themselves. It was tough to pick a favourite outfit from everything available. But I think I nailed it down in the end.

Available in lots of different colours. I am always here for a sequin dress, party outfits are mediocre without some form of sequin or glitter, paired with the new make-up looks. Doesn’t she just look stunning and ready to party at Carnaval?

That probably is more of an evening time dress though. So, if you’re wanting something a little more comfortable for the daytime but that still has splashes of colour that Brazil is famous for in their Carnaval scene, then this fun little top is perfect.

The pattern is cute, colours go really well together, and well, I could see people wearing this in the real world.

Overall thoughts on the Carnaval Streetwear Kit

I have to say, overall I’m a little disappointed. The Sims 4 Kits like the Carnaval Streetwear one never have as much content as the full-on expansions like Island Living, so I knew not to expect too much. But whilst the idea is sound, it has been poorly executed. It’s a very tame take on Carnaval, and with how big of a name Pabllo Vittar is, are surprised by how there is not more big bold content available.

What is there looks great, don’t get us wrong. We just wish there was more of it. We’d probably suggest waiting for it to go on sale before you decide to buy it, we don’t expect it will take too long for that to happen. Unless somehow they add more content to it and get some actual big Carnaval Streetwear outfits in there too.
