Control sales top five million as Control 2 and Max Payne remakes push ahead

Remedy Entertainment has announced that Control has now sold over five million copies. More than 19 million players have experienced the paranormal action adventure since its launch in 2019.

The game first arrived on PS4, Xbox One, and PC via the Epic Games Store in August 2019. A Steam release followed in 2020, alongside a cloud version for Switch and Luna, while the PS5 and Xbox Series versions landed in early 2021, with Stadia rounding things out later that year.

Control 2 development enters focused phase

As for the sequel, Control 2 is “on track” to hit its next milestones. The team is now focused on gameplay, environments, and missions. Remedy says it’s working to turn the follow-up into a strong commercial hit.

The Max Payne 1 & 2 remake project is also moving forward. It’s still in full production, with steady progress through the year. Remedy continues to work closely with Rockstar Games to keep the project aligned.

There is no release window yet, but Control 2 can be one of Remedy’s biggest upcoming titles. We may have to wait, but the next trip into the Oldest House is getting closer.
