Escape from Tarkov is finally heading to Steam later this year, but it won’t be the first extraction shooter to make the jump. Its biggest rival, Arena Breakout: Infinite, has just confirmed a Steam release for 15 September. And the best part is that it’s free-to-play.
Arena Breakout: Infinite announcement trailer
Fans have been grinding Arena Breakout: Infinite through MoreFun’s own launcher for a while now. The Steam release opens the doors to a much wider audience. Right now, it’s already sitting in eighth place on the global wishlist chart, ahead of heavy hitters like Dying Light: The Beast and ARK 2. That’s more than two million wishlist spots secured before launch.

Meanwhile, Escape from Tarkov’s Steam page hasn’t gone live yet. Battlestate Games has pencilled in a 1.0 release for 15 November, which means Tarkov fans will need to wait another two months before they can get their fix on Valve’s platform.
Free-to-play, feature-packed, and landing on Steam first – Arena Breakout: Infinite isn’t pulling any punches. The question is, will Tarkov’s long-awaited 1.0 launch be enough to steal back the spotlight?
