Ivy Road, the indie studio behind the critically acclaimed 2025 title Wanderstop, announced via a statement on its website that it will close on 31st March 2026, citing a failure to secure funding for its follow-up project.
The studio had been developing a second game titled Engine Angel, described internally as a project the team was genuinely excited about. In the closing statement, Ivy Road acknowledged both the loss and the gratitude felt toward its team: the studio thanked those who worked on Wanderstop while confirming that the inability to bring Engine Angel’s funding to fruition made closure unavoidable.
Wanderstop was Ivy Road’s well-received game
Wanderstop, Ivy Road‘s sole release, was well received by both players and critics during its 2025 launch. This title was also on our most anticipated indie games list. Despite the studio’s closure, the game will remain available and purchasable across its current platforms.

Ivy Road confirmed that one final surprise is also planned for the title – an unspecified update or initiative intended to help it reach new players. Publisher Annapurna Interactive is expected to share further details in due course.
The closure marks the end of a brief but well-regarded chapter in indie development. Engine Angel, meanwhile, appears unlikely to see the light of day without a new studio or funding arrangement emerging.
