Bad news for horror fans—The Occultist won’t be arriving in 2025 as originally planned. Daedalic Entertainment and DALOAR have officially delayed the first-person psychological horror game to 2026. When it finally launches, it will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC via Steam.

The horrors of Godstone

The Occultist game revolves around the Paranormal investigator Alan Rebels, who has spent years uncovering supernatural mysteries, but nothing could prepare him for Godstone. His father often spoke of the island, yet Alan never knew why—until his father vanished without a trace.

Determined to find answers, he sets foot on Godstone, an abandoned island untouched since 1950, when a dangerous cult mysteriously disappeared. But something still lingers in the ruins, and the deeper Alan explores, the more disturbing the truth becomes. Ghostly figures, cryptic messages, and remnants of cruel experiments suggest this is no ordinary case—it’s a nightmare waiting to unfold.

Armed with a mystical pendulum, Alan must navigate the island’s haunted streets, solve occult-themed puzzles, and evade the horrors lurking in the shadows. Stealth is his only defence, as direct combat isn’t an option—meaning staying unseen is just as important as uncovering the truth. As he pieces together the island’s dark history, Alan starts questioning whether some mysteries are better left unsolved.

A longer wait, but worth it?

A delay is always disappointing, but if it means a more polished, immersive horror experience, it might be for the best. The Occultist promises a mix of psychological horror, survival mechanics, and an intriguing mystery that could make it a standout in the genre. Now, it’s just a matter of waiting until 2026 to see if it delivers.
