Nintendo has announced The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, which will launch alongside the Switch 2 on June 5th. This enhanced version promises better performance and exclusive features for the new hardware.
Upgrade options and compatibility
Players who already own Tears of the Kingdom on Switch can upgrade to the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition by purchasing an upgrade pack from Nintendo eShop, My Nintendo Store, or select retailers. The original game will remain playable on the Switch, but upgraded features are exclusive to Switch 2.
What’s new in the Tears of the Kingdom Switch 2 Edition?
This version brings several improvements:
- ZELDA NOTES integration – A new service in the Nintendo Switch App (formerly Nintendo Switch Online App), offering location hints and in-game commentary from Princess Zelda.

Alongside Tears of the Kingdom, Nintendo is also upgrading Breath of the Wild for the Switch 2. Both games will feature performance boosts, making exploration feel smoother and more immersive. With ZELDA NOTES, finding that hidden Korok or elusive shrine should be easier than ever.
