If you love tactical RPGs and miss the feeling of gathering around a table for a game night, Sunderfolk might be exactly what you’re looking for. Dreamhaven and Secret Door have announced that their fantasy cooperative adventure launches on 23 April for PS5, Xbox, Switch, and PC via Steam.

Sunderfolk | Launch Date Trailer

A tactical RPG where your phone is the controller

Sunderfolk is a turn-based RPG designed for couch co-op, with up to four players teaming up to explore the Sunderlands, battle enemies, and protect their home village, Arden. The twist? Instead of traditional controllers, you use a free mobile app to play. Scan a QR code on the screen, and your phone becomes your controller, inventory, and rule book.

In Sunderfolk, you’ll choose from six unique classes: Arcanist, Bard, Berserker, Pyromancer, Ranger, and Rogue, each offering different playstyles and abilities. Combat is turn-based but flexible, meaning players can act in any order, adjusting their strategy on the fly as enemies attack and new threats emerge.

More than just battles

When you’re not fighting, you’ll return to Arden to upgrade vendors, forge relationships with villagers, and unlock new gear. The town is built around a powerful substance called Brightstone, but Shadowstone corruption is creeping in, threatening its survival. Your mission? Defend Arden and push back the darkness.

Sunderfolk key features

Sunderfolk brings a fresh take on tactical RPGs by blending tabletop-style co-op with digital convenience. With its unique mobile controller system, anyone can join in, whether they’re in the room or following along remotely via a stream.
