Stunlock Studios is done with V Rising, now working on a new game in the same world

Stunlock Studios has confirmed it is wrapping up active development on V Rising, announcing that no new content updates are in the pipeline and that the team is already deep into its next project.

In a post on V Rising’s Steam page, the studio explained it feels the game is in a place it’s proud of. Nearly four years on from early access and two years since the 1.0 launch, Stunlock believes the journey is complete as it stands. Bug fixes and balance tweaks will continue, but fresh content is off the table.

V Rising studio says modding support is now scrapped

One casualty of the studio’s shift is long-anticipated modding support, which has now been officially abandoned. Stunlock admitted the game simply isn’t structured in a way that would let it deliver mod tools to the standard it wanted, though it noted the time spent exploring the possibility wasn’t wasted.

The big news is what comes next. Stunlock is building an entirely new game set within V Rising’s gothic world, described as its “most ambitious project” in the studio’s 15-year history. Details are slim, but the team says it’s experimenting freely and crafting something that feels “both familiar and strikingly new.”

No release window or title has been announced just yet, but it sounds like the vampire saga is far from over.
