Spellcasters Chronicles brings Quantic Dream into the world of competitive multiplayer

Quantic Dream is stepping into new territory with Spellcasters Chronicles, a free-to-play 3v3 action-strategy game that mixes magic, monsters, and fast-paced third-person combat. It’s a big shift from the studio known for cinematic single-player adventures like Detroit: Become Human, but this one’s all about competition.

Players take on the role of ‘Spellcasters’, mystical warriors who battle in vertical arenas. Each 25-minute match is a fight for control, where teams capture altars, expand territory, and shatter enemy ‘Lifestones’ to win. But there’s more to it than flashy spells. Each Spellcaster has a unique archetype, and you can customise your loadout with summonable creatures and chosen spells, adding a tactical twist to every fight.

David Cage, Quantic Dream’s co-founder, says the game marks a new creative chapter for the studio. Built across the Paris and Montreal teams, it’s designed to blend action and strategy with a community-driven approach.

Fans can sign up for the closed beta coming at the end of 2025, though spots are limited. And if you’re at TwitchCon San Diego, you’re in luck, Spellcasters Chronicles will make its first public appearance tomorrow with live matches and a gameplay deep dive.

It’s a bold move for Quantic Dream, and all eyes are on how this magical experiment plays out.
