Survival sandbox hit Soulmask has lifted the lid on its biggest update yet, revealing a new gameplay trailer during the PC Gaming Show: Most Wanted, and confirming that both version 1.0 and its ambitious Ancient Egypt-themed Shifting Sands DLC will arrive in spring 2026.
The new trailer wastes no time showing how far the game has come since its Early Access debut. Combat looks sharper, building is more flexible than ever, and the DLC’s Egyptian-inspired environments add a striking new visual identity to a game already known for its atmosphere.

Shifting Sands dives into Egyptian mythology and sci-fi
Shifting Sands pushes Soulmask into bold new territory, blending Egyptian deities with alien tech in a way that feels unlike anything else in the survival genre. Players will explore scorching new biomes while unlocking a set of god-themed masks, each offering its own playstyle-defining abilities:
- Horus Mask – Celestial Wings: Soar through the skies and dive-bomb enemies.
- Anubis Mask – Final Verdict: Transfer life force, debuff foes, and resurrect fallen enemies as temporary allies.
- Sobek Mask – Abyssal Overlord: Use water manipulation to shield yourself and disrupt enemies.
- Amun-Ra Mask – Glorious Hymn: Channel devastating solar energy and flames.
These masks dramatically expand exploration and combat, shifting the game closer to power fantasy territory without losing its survival roots.

Build a mobile fortress with the new ship system
One of the DLC’s biggest features is a new live-on-your-ship system, allowing players to build fully functional, customisable vessels, from small wooden starter boats to hulking Falcon-Class solar airships.
Ships can be outfitted with:
- Anti-gravity engines
- Sand skids
- Speed sails and gangways
- Ballistas, deck cannons, and heavy artillery
- Full production stations with tribesmen able to work onboard
It’s essentially a mobile base system, but on a scale rarely seen in the genre. Expect players to recreate floating strongholds, desert cruisers, and sky-fortified villages that drift across the sands.
Soulmask prepares for version 1.0
With more than 750,000 Early Access players and a strong 80% positive rating, Soulmask enters 2026 as one of the genre’s rising giants. The previously released Sanxingdui DLC earned an impressive 95% positive review score, setting expectations high for Shifting Sands.
Version 1.0 aims to bring tighter systems, a more complete progression path, and new challenges across the game’s world. With the DLC launching alongside the full release, the spring update is shaping up to be the biggest turning point in Soulmask’s development.
Steam pricing will increase when version 1.0 lands, but players can grab the game at its lowest-ever discount, 35% off from 4 December to 5 January. You can also grab the game on the Epic Store.
