Sony is taking legal action against Tencent. The reason is that Light of Motiram looks way too much like Horizon.
The lawsuit claims copyright and trademark infringement. Sony describes Motiram as a “slavish clone” of its Horizon series.

The game was first revealed in November 2024. Right away, fans noticed the similarities. Machines, environments, even the main character’s look, almost all of it screamed Horizon.
Earlier this year, Tencent shared a gameplay trailer. It didn’t help. The footage made the game look even more like a Horizon copy.
“Sony’s Horizon Zero Originality” isn’t just a meme, it’s evidence
Sony noticed. And so did the press. One outlet even called the game “Horizon Zero Originality.”
Lawsuit brings that up. According to Reuters, the complaint points to media headlines as proof that the game is copying.
Of course, looking similar doesn’t always mean legal trouble. Just ask Nintendo, who’s still trying to sue PocketPair over Palworld. It’s not easy to prove a game is a clone in court.
But this case matters. If Sony wins, it could set a strong precedent. If they lose, studios might get bolder with their “inspired” ideas.
For now, all eyes are on both of them. The verdict could shape the future of game design and how far is too far.
