Slay the Spire 2 early access pushed to March 2026

Mega Crit has delayed the early access release of Slay the Spire 2, moving it out of 2025 and onto a “secret Thursday” in March 2026.

The news dropped in the studio’s September Newsletter, where Mega Crit admitted the team needs more time. Originally slated for late 2025, the roguelike sequel now won’t arrive until spring the following year.

The studio wrote: “We know this isn’t the news anyone wanted to hear, but the game just needs more polish to meet our standards.” They also cited personal life issues and a habit of piling on extra “wouldn’t it be cool if…” features as reasons for the slip.

Slay the Spire 2 delay is not about Silksong

Mega Crit was clear – this wasn’t about dodging Hollow Knight: Silksong. Instead, it’s about adding new characters, content, and ensuring the sequel lives up to the runaway success of the first game.

Delays aren’t fun, but if it means Slay the Spire 2 arrives sharper, deeper, and ready for endless runs, the wait might be worth it.
