Silksong strikes again as Demonschool delay pushes launch to November

Demonschool has been delayed, and the reason is obvious – Hollow Knight: Silksong. Publisher Ysbryd Games confirmed the tactics RPG will no longer launch on 3 September and will instead arrive on 19 November. The sudden move was described as an “anguished” decision after Silksong locked in its 4 September release date.

Founder Brian Kwek admitted the team had little choice, calling it “cruel” that the long-awaited Metroidvania was scheduled just one day after Demonschool. It’s not the first game to shift out of September because of Silksong, but the crowded autumn release slate only made things worse. Final Fantasy Tactics Remaster, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, and Ghost of Yotei all hit within weeks of each other.

Demonschool moves to safer ground

Demonschool, with its Persona-inspired tactical combat and occult college setting, will now aim for a quieter launch window. Ysbryd says the delay also allows them to ship more content upfront, including alternate endings and minigames that were once post-launch plans.

The game will release on all major platforms, including PC via Steam. Developer Necrosoft Games called the situation frustrating but backed the decision, saying Ysbryd is covering costs. “Dropping the GTA of indie games with 2 weeks’ notice makes everyone freak out,” they wrote on Bluesky.

You will now meet Faye and her demon-hunting crew in November, hopefully without being buried under industry heavyweights.
