Hollow Knight: Silksong finally has a release date – September 4 – and it’s already shaking up the calendar. At least three games have shifted their launches to avoid being swallowed by the hype.
Indie studio Panik Arcade was set to drop CloverPit on September 3. Not anymore. The roguelike, pitched as the “demonic lovechild of Balatro and Buckshot Roulette,” will now launch September 26. The team openly admitted that competing with Silksong would be a losing battle, and they’ll use the extra time for polish.

Silksong impact ripples across release dates
Adventure RPG Faeland was also due to hit 1.0 on September 9. Developers have now pulled the release, saying they want to give years of work the attention it deserves. A new date is coming soon.

The biggest move comes from Aeternum Game Studios, which pushed Aeterna Lucis all the way into 2026. The team said launching next to Silksong would bury their game, but also noted missing dev kits as part of the delay.

Interestingly, they didn’t frame it as a rivalry. Instead, they thanked Team Cherry for keeping the metroidvania genre alive and even credited them as inspiration.
With GTA 6 bumped to 2026, it looks like Silksong has stepped into the “game to avoid” slot for 2025.
