The countdown to Battlefield 6 has officially begun. Starting August 18th and running through October 7th, Battlefield 2042 players can take part in the Road to Battlefield 6 event, a jam-packed celebration of the series’ legacy that also sets the stage for what’s next.
At the heart of the event is a brand-new Free Pass, offering over 50 rewards themed around Battlefield history. Alongside it, players can also secure more than 20 exclusive rewards that will carry over into Battlefield 6 at launch, a first for the franchise.
Classic firepower and hardware
The Free Pass brings fresh weapons and vehicles into the fray, including the KFS2000 assault rifle, available as part of the reward track. Meanwhile, those who joined the Battlefield 2042 Open Beta will be treated to an exclusive LYNX sniper rifle as a thank-you for their early participation.
It doesn’t stop there. Two fan-favourite attack jets from the series’ vault are making a return: the A-10 Warthog and the SU-25TM Frogfoot. Whether you’re strafing ground forces or locking horns in the skies, these iconic vehicles promise some classic Battlefield chaos.

A return to Iwo Jima
Perhaps the biggest highlight for veterans is the reimagining of the Iwo Jima map, a series staple that first appeared in Battlefield 1942. Redesigned for Battlefield 2042’s modern sandbox, this new version promises to blend nostalgia with the series’ trademark large-scale warfare.
Rewards that matter
The clever twist here is how the event ties Battlefield 2042 to the upcoming sequel. Progression in the Free Pass not only celebrates the franchise’s past but also directly feeds into the future, letting players unlock cosmetic rewards that will be ready to use in Battlefield 6 from day one.
With its mix of legacy throwbacks, cross-game unlocks, and new hardware, the Road to Battlefield 6 event feels like a proper send-off for Battlefield 2042 while keeping the hype alive for what’s around the corner.
