Resident Evil Requiem combat reveal raises big questions about Leon Kennedy

Resident Evil Requiem has finally given fans a look at its combat. The core survival-horror parts have looked solid since Gamescom 2025. But the action side stayed hidden. Until today.

A short combat clip aired on a special programme in Japan. It is now doing the rounds online. The footage shows a new area and Grace fighting zombies with a handgun. The over-the-shoulder angle feels close to Resident Evil 4. According to insider Dusk Golem, this version was censored for Japanese TV. The international release should include the full blood and gore.

The big question: where is Leon in Requiem?

Fans were waiting for one thing. Leon Kennedy. But the combat reveal did not show him. This has only pushed more talk around his role.

For months, rumours suggested Leon would be central to the game’s combat. Revealing him and the action together would have made sense. Producer Masato Kumazawa recently commented on the rumours. He did not deny them. So hope is still alive. Many believe Leon could be the second lead next to Grace Ashcroft.

What we do know is clear. Resident Evil Requiem looks strong. It is tense, dark, and confident. The game launches on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch on 27 February.
