KRAFTON has officially wrapped up the first closed alpha test for PUBG Black Budget, and by all accounts, it went better than planned. The upcoming extraction shooter, which blends classic PUBG ideas with mystical and ethereal elements, attracted more players than the studio anticipated.
According to a recent Steam blog post, the alpha “saw more interest and participation than anticipated,” giving the team a large pool of feedback to work through. That is a strong early sign for a game currently targeting a 2026 release.

What players liked, and what needs work
The developers said feedback helped them judge the game’s atmosphere, visuals, and overall system design. Many players responded well to how PUBG Black Budget looks and feels, especially its more accessible take on the extraction genre.
That said, problems were also clear. Players raised concerns about combat readability, situational awareness, and fatigue during repeated runs. Technical issues, including crashes and stability problems, also affected the experience.
Cheating was another talking point. KRAFTON confirmed that reports of unauthorised programs appeared during the test, leading to stronger security and anti-cheat measures throughout the alpha.
All feedback is now under internal review. The team closed by saying players will return to Coli Island once PUBG Black Budget is in a more refined state.
