Project Retrograde: The Becoming revealed as parasite survival action game

A new survival action game is on the way, and it looks like a fresh spin on the Resident Evil formula. Invercity Game Works, a Chinese developer, has announced Project Retrograde: The Becoming. The reveal trailer was published on IGN’s YouTube channel, giving us our first look. It’s coming to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox, though there’s no release date yet.

Project Retrograde: The Becoming – announcement trailer

The game is set in 1995. Humanity’s last hope, known as Project Retrograde, has collapsed after the rise of an ancient parasite called L.U.C.A. You play as a bounty hunter who’s infected with this parasite, forced to rely on its power to survive. It’s a double-edged sword; using L.U.C.A. may save the world, but it might also devour you.

The infection gives you the ability to absorb combat memories from others. That means you can unlock new fighting styles, from kung fu techniques to brutal assassin skills, mixing them in fast-paced survival combat.

The world itself leans on retro technology and apocalyptic design. Players can alter underground weather through the LUX system or scale towers to reach hidden zones and uncover forgotten truths.

With its parasite twist and retro atmosphere, this one feels built for fans of survival horror looking for something intense.
