Pimax has announced two new VR headsets: an upgraded Dream Air and a more affordable Dream Air SE. Both use micro-OLED displays and support SLAM-based inside-out tracking, offering high-end features in lightweight designs.
Pimax Dream Air: Smaller, sharper, better
Originally launched in December 2024, the Dream Air now features 3840 x 3552 Sony micro-OLED panels per eye, totalling over 27 million pixels. It uses new pancake lenses for clearer visuals, and includes Tobii eye-tracking, hand-tracking, SLAM or Lighthouse tracking, controller support, and integrated audio. The ergonomic design includes a self-tightening head strap and a comfortable halo band.
Pimax Dream Air SE: High-end VR at a lower price
The Dream Air SE offers a more affordable option, with 2560 x 2560 micro-OLED displays, SLAM tracking, eye and hand tracking, and built-in audio. It weighs under 150 grams, making it one of the lightest PCVR headsets. Despite the lower resolution, it retains over 90° stereo overlap and balanced visuals.
Pricing and availability
Both models ship in Q3 2025. Prices are:
- Dream Air SE SLAM version: $1199 (or $699 headset + $500 controller bundle)
- Dream Air SE Lighthouse version: $899 (or $599 headset + $300 for accessories)
