Path of Exile 2 launched today in Early Access for Steam and consoles, drawing an incredible 459,263 peak players on Steam alone. Despite its £29.99 Early Access price tag, fans rushed to experience the highly anticipated game. However, the overwhelming response has caused server issues, leaving many players stuck in long queues.
Server issues disrupt the fun
The game has only been live for about four hours, but the huge player count has already put immense strain on the servers. Some players report waiting a long time to get into a game, while others are struggling to even log in.
The game’s website has also been affected by the high traffic. Players trying to claim their Steam keys faced problems as the website went down several times. To make things worse, the “Early Access Live Updates” page, which was supposed to keep players informed about fixes, also crashed due to the traffic.

Developer response & community reactions
The team at Grinding Gear Games, the developer behind Path of Exile 2, has been working hard to address these problems. On their X account (formerly Twitter), they assured fans that they are doing everything they can to stabilise the servers and fix the website issues.
Fans have mixed feelings about the launch. Many are thrilled to see the game’s popularity but frustrated by the technical difficulties. Comments like “We expected some problems, but this is too much” and “The game is amazing; just fix the servers!” have been circulating on social media.
Despite the rocky start, Path of Exile 2 is off to an impressive launch, and fans are hopeful that the issues will be resolved soon.
