Koei Tecmo has shared a 17-minute gameplay video for Nioh 3, showing off more of the action and its different time periods. The game takes place in the early Edo, Sengoku, Heian, and Bakumatsu eras.
Nioh 3 – Gameplay Showcase
The video starts in the Warring States period. Yōkai roam the land, and a dangerous area called the Crucible has appeared. Players explore wide-open fields while trying to reach it.

The hero, Tokugawa Takechiyo (Iemitsu), can switch between samurai and ninja styles during fights. Samurai style is about facing enemies directly and using martial arts. Ninja style focuses on dodging and using Ninjutsu to stay fast and flexible.
Not all characters are enemies. Tokugawa will meet friendly people and even helpful Yōkai, which can give rewards.
Later, the video shows the frozen Heian period. Here, the Crucible must be cleansed, and Yōkai corruption removed to restore the land.
Nioh 3 will release on February 6, 2026, for PC and PlayStation 5. A free demo comes out on January 29, and progress carries over to the full game.
