Nintendo cracks down on Switch emulators again as legal heat rises

The emulation scene is feeling the pressure again. This week, several Switch emulator teams reported legal notices. That includes Eden, Citron, Kenji-NX, and MeloNx.

This is not sudden. Nintendo has acted before. Yuzu was taken down in 2024. Later, Ryujinx also faced pressure. Now the focus seems wider.

Original Nintendo Switch console will become the predecessor to the leaked Nintendo Switch 2

At the moment, most repositories still exist. Nothing has vanished overnight. Still, the mood in the community is cautious. Developers know how quickly things can change.

This will end emulation. New projects usually appear after each shutdown. That cycle is familiar. But the delays matter. Each legal step slows progress and breaks shared work.

Many fans think the real target is future hardware. If current emulators improve too much, they could help early work on Nintendo Switch 2 support. That would clearly worry Nintendo.

For now, Nintendo Switch emulation continues, just under more scrutiny. And if history tells us anything, it’s not over.
