In a heartwarming display of industry benevolence, global digital gaming giant Miniclip has announced a significant partnership with Make-A-Wish UK. The collaboration aims to grant 50 gaming-related wishes, transforming the lives of critically ill children and their families.
A long-term commitment to a worthy cause
Dating back to its early days, Miniclip has been a stalwart supporter of Make-A-Wish UK, a relationship further strengthened by the involvement of Rob Small, President and Co-Founder of Miniclip, who serves as a patron of the charity. This latest development sees Miniclip deepening its engagement, reinforcing its commitment to leveraging the power of gaming for the greater good.
At the core of this partnership, Miniclip pledges to assist Make-A-Wish UK in granting 50 life-changing wishes. The fulfilment of these wishes will span across diverse avenues such as sponsorship, volunteering, and player involvement in initiatives like the annual Wish 200 Week.
Wish 200 Week: Gaming industry unites
With the third annual Wish 200 Week taking place from 24th to 30th July 2023, Miniclip calls upon the wider gaming industry to rally together and fundraise. Encouraging gamers, industry leaders, and content creators alike, the event will host sponsored live streams, challenges, and unique events to drive donations. The funds raised will directly contribute to granting wishes for 200 children and young people.
Miniclip pledges to sponsor a portion of these 200 wishes, and is engaging its player base through in-game advertising to increase participation.
Fulfilling dreams, one game at a time
Expressing his joy over the support the gaming community has shown towards Make-A-Wish UK, Rob Small shared his pride in being part of an industry that uses its power to positively impact lives.
It has been a joy to see the gaming community coming together to help grant wishes for fellow gamers over the years. Seeing the support that Make-A-Wish UK has received, I am proud to be part of an industry that is using its power to help others.
Having Miniclip become an official Make-A-Wish UK partner is an incredible honour, and I look forward to working even closer with the team to grant even more gaming-related wishes in the future.
Following a staggering 400% increase in gaming-related wishes since 2017, Small played a crucial role in creating the Wish 200 Week campaign in 2021. Now in its third year, the campaign aspires to grant more wishes than ever to children who find comfort in gaming while undergoing treatment for severe conditions.
The power of gaming
Jason Suckley, Chief Executive of Make-A-Wish UK, emphasizes the potential of both gamers and non-gamers in helping grant wishes for as many critically ill children across the UK as possible. The official partnership with Miniclip will continue to harness the positive power of the gaming community, working towards the vision of granting every eligible child’s wish.
Gamers and non-gamers alike have the power to help us grant wishes for as many critically ill children across the UK as possible, many who have had childhood stolen away from them by their illness. We’re receiving a growing number of gaming-related wishes, which we know can leave a profound and lasting impact on critically ill children and their families.
Working with Miniclip as an official Make-A-Wish UK partner allows us to continue harnessing the positive power of the gaming community, helping us to reach our vision of granting every eligible child’s wish.
