Build a Rocket Boy co-CEO Mark Gerhard has alleged that MindsEye was targeted by a coordinated campaign aimed at harming the game and the studio’s reputation. Speaking in a recent internal meeting, he claimed the company has identified individuals he believes were involved in the alleged effort.
According to Gerhard, the campaign reportedly cost more than €1 million during 2025. He alleged that a “very big American company” funded the activity, though he did not provide a name. He also claimed the UK-based firm Ritual Network played a role by allegedly paying influencers, journalists, and some employees to spread negative sentiment about MindsEye.

Gerhard said legal steps are being prepared. He suggested those accused could face complaints linked to espionage, sabotage, and criminal interference.
Ritual Network denies involvement in sabotaging MindsEye
Ritual Network has rejected the allegations. The company stated to Insider Gaming that it has no connection to the claims and has not received evidence supporting them.
A spokesperson for Build a Rocket Boy declined to comment on the leaked internal meeting but said the studio believes there has been a coordinated attempt to damage confidence in MindsEye. The company confirmed it is working with legal advisers on the matter.
Gerhard also addressed recent cybersecurity measures introduced within the studio. Monitoring software was added to staff systems to strengthen security and reduce insider risks. He acknowledged the rollout caused concern and said communication around it could have been better.
Despite the controversy, Gerhard maintained that the studio’s priority remains delivering a strong game and allowing players to judge MindsEye on its own merits.
