Marvel Rivals might one day step beyond the pages of the comics. NetEase has confirmed that Disney has given it permission to design original characters for the game, though there are no firm plans in motion just yet. They have also revealed a new map named Klyntar: Throne of Knull. You can check it out below.

Speaking with MP1st, creative director Guanguang addressed the idea. When asked about the possibility of unique heroes, he confirmed the studio has approval but kept details under wraps, simply saying, “Stay tuned.”

The game already runs on a tight content schedule. Since its December 2024 launch, Marvel Rivals has introduced eight new fighters, with Blade being the most recent. NetEase aims to roll out a new character every month, keeping updates frequent and consistent.
Original characters may not appear soon, but the door is open. With Marvel Rivals now deep into Season 3 – bringing both Phoenix and Blade into the arena, the idea of NetEase carving out its own legacy in the Marvel universe remains a real possibility.
