Despite the setbacks, Marathon is still alive. During Sony’s latest earnings call, CFO Lin Tao confirmed that Bungie’s next big shooter is set to launch by March 31, 2026. Check out it’s cinematic reveal short below.

This lines up with earlier statements, but the game’s rocky road has fans raising eyebrows. After a poor reception to early playtests and a plagiarism scandal involving a concept artist, things looked shaky.
Tao admitted there were problems but said they’re being fixed. He said, “We believe this launch will happen, and if it’s cancelled, we’ll need to revise its valuation, but that’s not expected.”

Bungie has said the delay was to refine the core experience after clear feedback from the community.
The focus is on High-stakes survival, deep lore, and raid-like endgame content, all wrapped in their signature FPS gameplay.
Whether that’ll be enough to win back interest remains to be seen. But Bungie seems set on pushing Marathon over the finish line.
