The brainchild of Israeli developer Noam Matan Rotem – creator of Forgiveness, a series of escape room adventures – Luciform can only be mastered through quick reflexes and nerves of steel. Perfectly timed jumps are a must: Changing colours at will, you must think on your feet to quickly switch to the right colour combination in real-time – bouncing between platforms without stopping. If you also manage to avoid hazards (like spikes), you just might reach the end to fight the fearsome Red-Eyed Gorilla.
Seeing Luciform on Steam is thrilling in more ways than one. It just so happens to be the product of one of my earliest game concepts – now made real and ready for sale after a solid year in development. As you’d expect, Luciform is certainly challenging – and ideal for speedrunning – but the game’s gradual difficulty curve makes it the perfect introduction to precision platforming for more casual players as well. I’m looking forward to seeing a lot of names on the leaderboards – assuming you can beat my score!
