LG 49U950A-W UltraWide monitor brings stunning visuals

LG has quietly added a new UltraWide monitor, the LG 49U950A-W, to its Singapore website ahead of a global launch. This 49-inch curved display comes with a 32:9 Nano IPS DQHD panel offering a sharp 5120×1440 resolution and a 3800R curve, making it a strong choice for users who want one wide screen instead of using two monitors side by side.

The monitor supports a fast refresh rate of up to 144Hz and works with both AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible modes, making it smooth for gaming and creative work. LG also points out that the panel is factory-calibrated, giving accurate colours straight out of the box. It covers about 98% of the DCI-P3 colour range, has a typical brightness of 400 nits, and delivers a contrast ratio of 1,000:1. Response time is listed at 5ms, with an optional mode that can lower motion blur to feel like 1ms.

In terms of ports, the LG 49U950A-W offers two HDMI 2.0 connections, one DisplayPort 1.4, a USB hub with multiple USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, and a USB-C port with DisplayPort Alt Mode. The USB-C port can also deliver up to 90W of power, making it useful for charging laptops directly. Other features include picture-in-picture and picture-by-picture modes, a built-in KVM Dual Controller, and 10W stereo speakers with rich bass.

The monitor also supports HDR with VESA DisplayHDR 400, though its HDR experience is modest compared to higher-end models. Ergonomic options include tilt, swivel, and height adjustment, while users can also mount it using a 100×100mm VESA setup. For eye comfort, LG includes a low-blue-light mode certified by TÜV Rheinland and an ambient light sensor that adjusts brightness automatically.

LG 49U950A-W UltraWide monitor price and availability

Pricing and worldwide availability have not yet been shared, but the LG 49U950A-W looks like a solid new option for both professionals and gamers who want a wide, powerful display.
