Judas reveals new art and villain system but release date still missing

Ken Levine’s Judas has stepped back into the spotlight after months of silence. Ghost Story Games, the studio formed from the ashes of Irrational, has published its first dev blog, showing off new key art and peeling back the curtain on a major gameplay mechanic. You can check out its story trailer below.

That mechanic is called Villainy. Instead of fixed villains like Fontaine or Comstock in BioShock, your enemies in Judas are shaped by your choices. The Big Three – Tom, Hope, and Nefertiti – can start as allies. But ignore one long enough, and they’ll flip, turning into a powerful foe with new abilities designed to sabotage your plans.

It’s a dynamic that takes some inspiration from Shadow of Mordor’s Nemesis System, but with a more personal edge. These characters won’t just fight you. They’ll bargain, backstab, save you in combat, and reveal secrets – all while competing for your trust. Ghost Story wants to lose one to feel like losing a friend.

The post confirms a full playtest of Villainy has been completed, marking a key milestone. But a release date. Not yet. Ghost Story says it won’t announce one until it’s confident it can stick to it. Take-Two hinted at 2026, but for now, you will have to keep waiting.
