A live stream gaming event organised by International Animal Rescue (IAR) to help save orangutans in Borneo has proved so successful that the NGO is urging more gamers to get involved in future.
International Animal Rescue’s month-long ‘Play For Our Planet’ event concluded on Endangered Species Day – Friday 21 May. Nineteen streamers took part and raised nearly £11,000 to support orangutans in the care of IAR Indonesia in West Borneo.
We were delighted to see the dedication and support displayed by these streamers and the 450+ people who kindly donated to their fundraisers. They have all been part of something very special and we are extremely grateful to them all! Times have been tough for us all during the past year. And our partners in Indonesia have been working extra hard to keep the orangutans undergoing rehabilitation healthy and protect them from disease.
The team will be thrilled to hear that the gaming community has chosen to use their skills and talent to support the project in this way.
