The first gameplay trailer for I Hate This Place is here. Developed by Broken Mirror Games and published by Skybound Games, it’s an isometric survival horror game set in the cursed Rutherford Ranch, filled with nightmare creatures, shifting environments, and a sharp retro comic style.
You play as Elena, who accidentally unleashes a dark force. Survival means scavenging supplies, crafting gear, upgrading campsites, and rebuilding outposts to stay alive.
The world is split between day and night. Use daylight to gather and prepare, because once night falls, the creatures come out in full force. They’re faster, stronger, and the dark makes it harder to see.

Day and night bring different threats
The game features a dynamic day-night cycle. During the day, explore haunted forests, derelict towns, and infested bunkers. At night, more enemies spawn, and your flashlight becomes a lifeline. Stealth is essential.
Most creatures hunt by sound, so running in guns blazing usually gets you killed. You can use noise to lure enemies or lead them into traps.
The visual style is pulled straight from the comic it’s based on, I Hate This Place by Kyle Starks and Artyom Topilin. Expect bold colours, gritty comic panels, and 80s-inspired design. There’s a mix of gore, dark humour, and a bit of camp.
The trailer includes a small nod to the comic: a “Thud” effect behind every footstep.
I Hate This Place is set to launch in Q4 2025 on PC, PS5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.
Not safe for work or kids
The game contains frequent gore and mature content. Expect violence, blood, and horror themes throughout.
