Hypnos is the latest project from Redlock Studio, and it looks set to continue the developer’s fascination with fractured worlds, uneasy atmospheres, and stories that unfold at the edges of understanding.
Revealed today, Hypnos is a first-person adventure and exploration game set within the Nameless City, a vast Lovecraftian megastructure suspended between dreams and reality. It’s a place where the rules of the universe no longer apply, and where every path seems to bend back on itself in unsettling ways.
A first teaser trailer offers an early glimpse at the city’s strange geometry and haunting tone, hinting at a journey that’s less about combat and more about observation, interpretation, and choice.
A city built on dreams and forgotten truths
Set within Redlock Studio’s wider Maze Chronicles universe, following on from Blackshard, Hypnos places players in the role of Choron, a wanderer drawn into the Nameless City by visions of a faceless boy who appears again and again in his dreams.
The city itself sits in the shadow of the Holy Mountain of Kadath, a place steeped in myth and ruled by powerful Monarchs. As Choron searches for answers, players will explore surreal districts, cross shifting boundaries between truth and illusion, and slowly uncover what binds the city, its rulers, and the boy known as Matthew together.
Exploration first, answers later
Hypnos is designed as a semi-open world, encouraging players to find their own routes through the city rather than following a rigid path. Exploration plays a central role, with environmental interaction allowing players to manipulate the “materia of dreams” and reshape parts of the world as veils are lifted and realities begin to overlap.
Narrative progression is handled through branching dialogue and meaningful choices, with decisions influencing both the fates of the city’s inhabitants and the direction of the story itself. Multiple endings promise different interpretations of Choron’s journey, depending on how deeply players choose to engage with the city’s mysteries.

Sound, atmosphere, and unease
Adding to the game’s dreamlike quality is an original soundtrack by ALT236, blending ambient textures, retro tones, and ethereal electronic elements. The music is designed to drift in and out of focus, reinforcing the sense that the Nameless City is never quite stable, and that reality itself may be slipping.
Everything about Hypnos points toward a slower, more reflective experience — one that rewards curiosity and patience rather than reflexes.
When can you explore Hypnos’ Nameless City?
Hypnos is currently scheduled to launch later this year on PC and consoles. Players intrigued by its surreal world and layered storytelling can already wishlist the game on Steam.
