White Owls has revealed the release window for Hotel Barcelona. It’s coming this September to PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox. The game is a 2.5D sidescroller with roguelite and action elements.
It takes place inside a haunted hotel near the Pennsylvania-West Virginia border. This isn’t just a creepy hotel, it’s a prison for America’s worst serial killers.
You play as Justine, a rookie federal marshal. She has a twisted secret. Her mind is linked to Dr. Carnival, a deranged killer with a violent past. Together, they must defeat seven brutal slashers and escape the hotel.
Echoes of the dead and killer boss fights
The game has seven zones. Each one is based on a different horror theme, like haunted houses or evil labs. Each area ends with a deadly boss fight.
Every time Justine dies, a Slasher Phantom is born. It’s a ghost that copies your past moves. You can use it to block attacks, kill enemies, or create distractions. Failure becomes a weapon.
You can also unlock multiplayer. Up to three players can team up online in co-op. A fourth player can invade your game in PvP mode. They can hunt you or be hunted.
Try Hotel Barcelona at BitSummit XIII
Hotel Barcelona will be playable in Japan later this month. The game will be at BitSummit XIII: Summer of Yōkai in Kyoto. The demo runs from July 18 to 20. You’ll get to fight Jacob, a serial killer obsessed with baseball. He stalks the nearby field with a bat, waiting to strike.
This game is bizarre, violent, and packed with style. If you like horror and weird action, Hotel Barcelona is one to watch.
